At the very last moment, Zayn Malik has pulled out of his performance at the Capital Summertime Ball. The reason why he did this isn’t usually heard among other music artists which makes it quite interesting.
In a statement, the former One Direction member explained that he had suffered an anxiety attack. “Unfortunately my anxiety that has haunted me throughout the last few months around live performances has gotten the better of me. [W]ith the magnitude of the event, I have suffered the worst anxiety of my career. I cannot apologize enough but I want to be honest with everyone who has patiently waited to see me, I promise I will do my best to make this up to everyone I’ve let down today.”
The singer (known mononymously as Zayn) released his debut album Mind of Mine back in March, though he has yet to share any news of a proper tour to promote it. Alternately, he has performance single shows now and then.
His last performance was in May at the 102.7 KIISFM Wango Tango and his next gig is set to be at Dubai’s Autism Rocks Arena on October 7.
