Sad news for Sam Smith fans… The singer had decided to take a break from music for a while, now that the big publicity rush for his theme song “Writing’s On The Wall” is slowing down.
The British singer is planning on taking an unofficial hiatus from performing and promo-ing to focus on more personal things in his life and start mining for inspiration for his second album.
Smith spoke to ET at CBS Radio’s We Can Survive concert for breast cancer awareness, “I am sad, but also it feels right. It’s my last performance in America, and it feels right to do it in such a beautiful setting.”
Well, not exactly. He’s expected to perform with none other than Disclosure on the November 14 episode of SNL.
After grabbing multiple awards and performing all over the globe for his debut album In The Lonely Hour over the past couple years, not to mention recovering from vocal cord surgery in more recent months, Smith plans to use his break to get his life back on track.
“I’ve been going now for three years nonstop and it feels right for me to just go home and just live my life and be a 23-year-old. My love life, the downs and ups, it never stops, so I’m always inspired by stuff like that. But it’d be good to spend some time dating.”
Not to mention, it’d probably be a good idea to fall back while Adele’s plan to take over the musical world kicks into gear.
