Superstar DJ’s Nicky Romero and Hardwell seem to have gotten into a bit of a spat on Twitter earlier today. To make it even more interesting, it wasn’t about music at all. Conflict between artists isn’t anything new in the music world yet it makes us curious every time.

After Hardwell posted a picture of himself performing in front of his 8-bit self-portrait, Romero responsed with a very pointed subtweet. He said, “Copying is the highest form of flattery” (we’re assuming he meant to say, “Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery”).

When fans of both noticed the exchange, they asked about the object of the not-very-subtle shade and he again responsed without naming any names, implying that another big DJ had jacked his retro-style 8-bit look from earlier in the year.

Hardwell caught onto the tweet anyway, and responses by saying it was actually Romero who had copped his aesthetic (plot twist!) — which didn’t seem to go over very well with Nicky. Who do you think is actually to blame?
