Pop queen Ariana Grande dropped her new single “Focus” just last week — the first track off her very highly-anticipated LP Moonlight. While we don’t have any chart details just yet (since the song is so new), the critical response wasn’t the most positive. Hm… what could it mean for the future of the studio album?
Although, the 22-year-old songstress says the song is something of an outlier on the album, according to a new interview with U.K. station KISS.
“That’s why I put ‘Focus’ first, because it’s the only one that sort of sounds like that. I’ve been putting little snippets on my Snapchat here and there of a couple things, and I can’t say [more] yet because it’s not done.”
Finishing the album seems to be Grande’s biggest priority currently, now that her Honeymoon tour has wrapped up officially.
“I’m excited for the next couple of months to not only finish [Moonlight] but to have actual undivided time where I can really just focus on the music. I’m really happy with what we’ve done so far, but I just feel like once I finally get the time really dedicate myself 100 percent, I’m going to maybe outdo what we’ve already done… maybe.”
